What Online Therapy Actually Feels Like

One of the most common questions about online therapy is whether it "works" the same as in person sessions. Research over the past years consistently suggests that, for many concerns, online therapy can be as effective as face to face work.
What surprises many people is how intimate a video session can feel. You are in your own space, often more relaxed, more yourself. There is no commute to rush through, no waiting room to sit in. The session begins the moment you close your door.
What matters most is not the medium but the relationship: feeling that your therapist understands you, respects your pace, and offers a space where you can speak honestly. That can absolutely happen through a screen.
Online therapy is not ideal for every situation, acute crises, for example, may require in person care. A brief screening consultation is a good way to find out whether it fits your needs.
